David rolled over and asked me “So does it feel like Christmas morning?”
Why, yes, yes it did.
{You gotta love a man who understands you.}
And if it was Christmas morning, then that makes these guys Santa and his elves:
But I digress…
YESTERDAY THE PROJECT STARTED! The weather-persons had been calling for rain all ALL week, but when yesterday came, it was flat-out gorgeous. Partly cloudy to sunny, low 70’s for most of the day…gorgeous. {In fact it was so partly cloudy that I got a nice little tank top shaped sunburn. Foiled by the clouds again…}
{In double fact, it was SO beautiful yesterday that today I’m paying for it with the torrential downpours that are threatening to wash all my dirt away…HEY I JUST PAID FOR THAT…but again, I digress…}
Alex and the guys from The Green Team did a great job. And yesterday they worked hard, all day long, and finished the job all in one day. We are fans.
First step was demo of all the unwelcomes:
And transplanting this beauty to my neighbor’s house:
Wondering at the apocalypse that was becoming my yard:
Next up was removal of the sod:
Then tilling and widening the existing in-ground beds:
Filling them with this:
Planting the desirables:
{I hope my peony blooms make it this year…that may have been asking too much of them yesterday…}
And last they made everything look lovely with a thick layer of pine straw. Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of the finished, finished work, as I was slap out worn out at the end of the day. But more to come soon! Super hopeful for raised beds going in on Saturday!
