Bitty G is into mash-ups these days.
This is pretty much how I feel about the thought of her being cast in Pitch Perfect 20. You know, the sequel to the sequel to the…you get the idea. But if the franchise lasts that long they’ll probably call it something snappy like Pitch Perfect 2X.
ACK.
I’m literally shuddering at the thought of my daughter being in a movie.
{As per usual…how did I get here? MASH-UPS. Bitty G is all into the mash-ups.}
The age old hit, “Oh Come All Ye Faithful,” melds right into an original ditty with a highly repetitive chorus that I’m just guessing is entitled “All By My Big Girl Self.” In case you’re unfamiliar with the latter composition, it’s a recent release, very popular with those in the 2 – 2 ½ year demographic, sometimes en vogue with parents, and sometimes very not. Often sung when parents are trying to get a small person to finish the last four bites of a chicken nugget in a timely fashion, what was once a helpful little tune quickly turns into the bane of their existence when they are in a parking lot, trying to get everyone safely buckled in the bitingly freezing cold gale force wind that bitties do not feel because they have recently been put inside the car and are not standing beside it trying to get someone to climb. in. your. seat.
I would sing it for you on a recording embedded into this post but see above re: shuddering.
{There is a point to this. But if you find it please let me know.}
I’m making a shift, and it makes me want to sing “All By My Big Girl Self.” Big news, right? BIG NEWS. It’s pretty much the biggest news since Nathan switched his favorite color to orange.
{For those of you who may be new here, I do not have a child named Nathan.}
{And after this ridicula-long build up, be prepared to be underwhelmed by my news, but be excited because THERE’S SOMETHING IN IT FOR YOU.}
I am willing to pay more than $1.29 for a seed packet this season. I KNOW, RIGHT?!?! Who am I. I hardly recognize myself. I won’t go into all the reasons because I would bore even myself to tears, but what it boils down to is this: viability. I’m willing to pay a little extra for the trust factor. {Not to mention that the thought of supporting a small business is super cool, but I said I wouldn’t go into it.}
So: here’s where YOU come in! A point? A point?? SHE HAS FOUND HER POINT!
The very kind folks at Baker Creek Heirloom Seed Company want to do a giveaway—they are going to mail 10 regular packets of seeds {of the winner’s choice} to whoever wins this here blog giveaway. And as someone who is pricing the shift toward viability: THIS IS A NICELY PRICED PRIZE.

Because really, who doesn’t like sharing great news?? Certainly not Nathan! Nathan loves making news! And sharing it! Plus orange really is the way to go now. Yellow is so 1985. Spread the word.

What am I most looking forward to growing this season? Has to be the pink banana jumbo squash – don’t know what I’m supposed to do with it if it does grow, but it looks interesting. Think it will attract monkeys in this West Texas town? What else could I get and grow from Baker Creek? Hmm, interesting!
Tere C. says
I am looking forward to growing fava beans and baker tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, yokohama squash, butternut, red and black carrots, red cabbage, …. this year. Also looking into how to plant an apricot tree so that the ants won’t eat the roots and kill it. We are researching the healthiest vegetables packed with nutrition. Baker’s Creek articles have been wonderful in lending a hand to our plans this year. It can be difficult to grow things in southern New Mexico due to our climate, we are getting creative with planter bins, water saving, looking into alternative options to allow our crops to thrive. I hope to be in remission soon and we are making huge strides in diet changes and growing our own fruits and vegetables knowing that they will make the difference in our health and longevity… thanks for the opportunity to comment. Happy 2016! Love to All ! 🙂

I love summer squash, without a doubt, they are my favorite fruit/veggie in my garden. However, it seems that I cannot beat the Squash Vine Borer. I have fought the dreaded SVB for years, losing most of my squash plants by late June. I’ve tried everything to deter those pesky, winged beasts, but alas I come away with maybe two struggling plants in July. This year, I found the zucchino rampicante squash on the Baker Creek web site with many reviews as 5 stars. These squash are reported SVB “resistant” as their stems are thick. I’m very excited to try this prolific plant next spring, and I fully expect a bountiful harvest to sautee with cherry tomatoes, onions, and garlic, all from my own garlic. Bon appetit.

I am dreaming of planting the AMAZINGLY COLORFUL PUSA SERIES! My neighbor says she has a Zen moment while pulling my radishes & carrots–a hidden, delicious surprise. Opening the Baker Seed Heirloom Seed Company website is an oasis in my Maine winter! My heart aches to plunge my fingers into the warm soil & plant Baker Seed’s many varieties of onion & carrot seeds. Baker Creek–you make our long winters shorter.
Amanda says
I recently picked up some Theron’s Winter Harvest (winter squash) seeds and I’m very exited to try them out this year. Last year the gems in the garden were the Rose Beauty tomatoes (wow were they productive!) and the “Blue” pumpkin that was actually cross-pollinated (got the seed at a local swap) and grew gorgeous Cinderella shaped waxy orange pumpkins – excellent storage, equal parts seed and “guts” with a lovely thick meat – I made two into pumpkin pies, filled the freezer, and still have three pumpkins sitting in my kitchen!
If I win this drawing, I’ve got a few varieties from Baker Creek I’d like to try, but beyond that, I’d be donating any other seeds to the seed library I started last year. This year I’m working on getting seeds to a local school that is planning a school garden! Thank you for this seed-acquiring opportunity!
Becky says
